An Afternoon at The Needham House Hotel & Spa, Stevenage | Lifestyle

*
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of spending a what would normally be either a busy working day or a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Needham House Hotel in Stevenage, for a few hours of pampering and relaxation. As I now work full time doing two jobs, as well as finding time to see my friends and family, I struggle to find time to just relax – so Needham House Spa kindly treated me to a luxurious, relaxing afternoon.

I went along to Needham House a couple of weeks ago, to spend the afternoon in their Spa. I was greeted by Charmaine, the manager of the spa, who was absolutely lovely and made me feel very welcome throughout my visit.
The Spa is lovely, with a very sleek and new feel to it. The Spa includes a Swedish sauna and a steam room (which I spent quite a while in – I love saunas in particular) and there is a number of  treatment rooms (single and double rooms, so you can enjoy the treatments on offer alone or with a friend) available too.
There are a wide variety of different treatments are available at the spa. Needham House Spa offers a number of face and body treatments, including facial peels and massaged. The products used in these treatments are by ESPA Skincare, a British skincare specialising in Spa products. The spa also offers  waxing and lash and brow treatments, as well as some hand and feet treatments (manicures and pedicures), using products from the brand Jessica. I didn’t have a manicure or pedicure during my visit, but I have used Jessica products before and can confirm that they are incredible quality. All of the products used in the spa are fantastic quality – There’s an area in reception that you can purchase the products, so that you can enjoy them at home too.

I was booked in for the ESPA Holistic Face, Scalp and Back treatment, an 80-minute treatment that focuses on and targets those three key areas. It includes a back exfoliation and massage, a scalp massage and a facial treatment too – which is personalised to fit your skin.
Charmaine was my therapist for the afternoon – she guided me to one of the treatment rooms and after a short consultation, began the treatment. Before the start of my treatment, I had to do a sensory test for the products used on my face and back – you are presented two different-smelling oils, and the scent you are most drawn to is the one that is to be used in the treatment. I really liked this, as it gives the treatment a personal touch.
I was so relaxed – there was a choice of having an “energised” or “relaxed” treatment, and as I was looking for some much-needed relaxation, I naturally went for that option. Charmaine did a fantastic job –  I left the spa feeling incredibly relaxed – it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon; the way Sundays should be!

After another half an hour in the sauna, it was time to for me to leave. I left feeling relaxed and content – and eager to return. The whole hotel is beautiful, and definitely worth checking out if you fancy a weekend getaway, or somewhere to relax for the weekend.
